Hello,
I'd like to sort out the difference fuel consumption between gears *) and fuels.
Originally I hoped to find (in www) a simple(?) circuit which detects sinus shaped signal of the VSS (Vehicle speed sensor) and the opened time of the injector(s) (Pulse Width (PW)).
I'd also 'accept' any µC which does calcs.
Nothing found yet.
But today I found this intersting topic in the GasSavers forum:
Start here:

The idea is to connect both signals to LineIn (or Mic) of a Laptop. Of course you should take care to protect your Laptop! --> incoming Voltage must be lower than 5V, Soundcards can read Voltages up to +/-1.4V (2.8VPP) in good quality.
A Java Software is reading VSS and PW to calculate 'mpg' (Miles per Gallon).
The mpg.zip is just a 13kB file but doesn't run on my Win98SE PC. Maybe I miss the 'newest' Java software.
On page 2 of the gasSavers is the source code. I guess we should adapt [mpg] to common [l/100km].

*) Which rpm is the minimum for best mileage?
I know 2 charts. One is showing a minimum at a certain rpm/speed. another one shows no minimun -->the car with longest gear could achieve best fuel consumption....
