Hi Aryan,

yes, I've received the second email.

I'm currently investigating with Berti differences between .gpx files from the website and .asc files Berti has. The coordinates do not match :?

Example from the GPX file (brackets removed as they garble the posting):

wpt lat="51.319400000" lon="10.307900000"
name AVEX Ohrem /name
desc Heiligenstädter str. 44a 37351 Dingelstadt /desc
sym GASSTATION /sym
/wpt

The prerelease RouteConverter converts this to:

10.3079000,51.3194000,"AVEX Ohrem; Heiligenstädter str. 44a 37351 Dingelstadt"

But Berti's .asc file contains:

10.3090800,51.3183100,"[37351] AVEX Ohrem; Heiligenstädter Straße 44a [Dingelstädt]"

Has anyone an idea? (And no, the difference is too small for minutes/seconds vs. metric decimal places).

Regards
Christian

Hi Christian,

Very nice to see that you already are so far!

I think the answer to your question is simple, the data is not from the same source! As the coordiates haven't been altered by RouteConverter from the GPX file I wouldn't worry.

I think Berti coordinates could be more correct, the spelling of Dingelstädt is better too!

Greetings
Aryan

hej Aryan,

Christian is still working on a new version, and i do my very best to make some irritations as good as i can ;)

maybe that my coordinates are more correct than yours, but some of them could be wrong. i took them fom www.multimap.com

i started to proof the data generated by multimap, but the test with my home address failed :(

but i think that we (esp. Christian) still come to a result which will satisfy all

Hi,

I've released a new version that supports Navigon Mobile Navigator 6 POIs and thus may read or write Ethanol station lists. From the announcement:

The latest version 1.11 from 10/27/07
* reads and writes Geocaching.com/EasyGPS (*.loc) files
* reads and writes Navigon Mobile Navigator 6 POI (*.asc) files
* reads and writes Route66 POI (*.csv) files
* reads other Google Maps URLs than those from maps.google.de
* writes GPS Tuner files which may be read from GPS Tuner MapCalibrator
* allows to remove positions such that at least a given distance lies between the remaining positions
* allows Drag-and-drop for the Java 5 and the Mac version
* better processes Google Earth 3 files from GPS TrackMaker
* shows more detailed error messages if the map cannot be displayed
* fixes a JavaScript bug while starting and displaying the map
* fixes a bug while reading Google Earth files which contain only one Placemark
* fixes a bug while reading Tom Tom Rider files which contain only one position
* fixes a bug when writing Tom Tom Rider files if no positions are available
* fixes a bug while reading Google Earth 4.2 files which contain NetworkLinks
* fixes a bug when selecting routes if the routes are identical
* fixes a bug in the Java 5, Linux and Mac version which hampers reading the formats Garmin MapSource, GPX- and Google Earth

This is how RouteConverter looks like:

Good work!

I wonder if the mac version is on pair with the general distribution? Otherwise my observations might be obsolete.

I tried the mac version and imported a GPX file with the the german tankstations from our database (search for stations, germany and save the results as a GPX file) and it looked ok exept fo the high ASCII in the text that sometimes show up as control characters, could there be something wrong with the UTF-8 conversion in routeconverter or do you think it is the sourcefile that has these bugs?

Another thing that I tried and didn't really work was the googlemaps url creation, becase there was too much (streetadress) information the URL got too long to work.

Kind regards
/Aryan

Thank you. I must admit that I do not own a Mac (yet :-) And as only 4% of the users use a Mac, it's likely to contain more bugs.

I've been using the .asc files (Navigon 6 POI format) that Berti send me and they work perfectly. If you provide me with the GPX files I'll have a look at them.

Poor you ;-) and so much for the interopability of Java :!:

Yes we mac users are a misarable minority, just like bioethanol cars..

I did not see the map window that you have in the screenshots either but that is maybe something I missed?

You can make as many as you like by searching the database http://www.korridor.se/aryan/acadiane/E ... arch.phtml and then use the download GPX link.

I used one after searching for stations in Germany, a direct link is:

Ort: Germany, Münster,
hi guys,

i will try the new version during this week, using the new asc.file.

i looked into that file and saw that there are some "Betriebstankstellen" in there, but the diff between the official stations and the stations in that file are only 4 stations.

generally its great that now we have a great tool to convert any kind of navigation data into another. :D
