Danisco researches intensely into climate improvement
Danisco is investing several hundred million Danish kroner in two climate projects with DuPont and Goodyear.
Climate and environmental improvements are high on Danisco’s agenda. We will be investing several hundred million Danish kroner over the next few years in two projects. The aim is to reduce CO2 emissions and the production of petroleum-based products.
The fastest growing climate problem globally is the emission of greenhouse gasses from, for instance, cars. Fortunately, there are alternatives to petroleum-based fuels. Danisco aims to be among the first to introduce a competitive technology for the production of second-generation bioethanol.
It is therefore only natural that Danisco CEO Tom Knutzen is a member of the panel at the current Nordic Climate Solutions conference in Bella Center.
Our enzyme division, Genencor, has entered into a joint venture with DuPont on the development of processes and plants for the production of second-generation bioethanol.
And together with Goodyear, we will be producing rubber based on biotechnology rather than petrochemicals.
Danisco estimates that the market for second-generation bioethanol based on biomass will be close to DKK 500 billion in 2020.
